Akcija Zdruzhenska took part at a conference entitled
“Money and Movements” organized by AWID in Queretaro, Mexico where
300 representatives of women organizations from all continents as well as 50
donors had gathered.
The conference’s aim was to promote significant increase in
access to and amount of founding to support women’s rights work and to improve
the effectiveness of women’s organizations in raising and utilizing more funds
to build stronger movements and promote gender equality globally.
The discussion was based on the research “Where is the
Money for Women’s Rights?” which was designed to examine the funding trends
related to gender equality work and support to women’s rights organizations. The
results have indicated that funding has gone down and that women’s organizations
are in a state of mere survival. The discussion was organized in Panel
discussions and separate regional workshops, as well as topic workshops for
strengthening the capacities related to the following questions: Where is the
Money? How Do We Get It? As a Movement What Do We Want to Do With It?
