Akcija Zdruzhenska is a founding member of the International Gender Policy
Network (IGPN), a non-profit, non-governmental organization aimed at promoting
gender equitable and gender sensitive public policy at all levels of global
society. IGPN advocates for the inclusion of women’s human rights into the
national, regional and global policy agenda and for full implementation of
social, economic and cultural rights of women.
IGPN is a network of independent organizations and individual country liaison
deriving from Open Society Institute Network Women’s Program (NWP/OSI). We are
situated all over Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, Caucasus and
Central Asia. Our shared values, vision, experience and collaboration on several
projects create a foundation for joint efforts to ensure women’s rights at
national, regional and global levels. Our past experience with many innovative
regional programs within the NWP/OSI is a key asset for our successful
collaboration as an independent network.
The major goal of the IGPN is to ensure accountability of national, regional
and global actors in the area of women’s rights and gender equality.
IGPN fulfills its goals through:
Conducting policy research and analyses to ensure monitoring and
accountability of the major agreements in the area of women’s rights and
gender equality;
Contribution to national, regional and global public policies on gender
equality;
Promotion of effective and responsible gender mainstreaming strategies;
Strategic engagement of multiple stakeholders in advancement of women’s
rights (including civil society organizations and networks, governments,
international agencies, donors, etc.).
Membership of IGPN:
Founding members of IGPN are Institutional Partners of the OSI Network
Women’s Program.
Associate members of IGPN are individual Country Liaisons, who are also
Coordinators of Women’s Programs within local Soros Foundation in the region.
After its current initial stage the IGPN will create guidelines for network
expansion.
