The Association for advancement of gender equality Akcija Zdruzhenska – Skopje in partnership with the Institute for Community Development from Tetovo, on 01.28.2016 (Thursday) at Hotel Lirak Tetovo held a one-day training on “Advocacy of gender equality in local policies.” The training was conducted within the project “Equality and Gender Mainstreaming Across Broders ”, supported by the EU in the framework of the IPA instrument for cross – border cooperation between Macedonia and Kosovo.
The purpose of the training was to strengthen the capacity of local civil society organizations and activists representing the integration of gender perspectives into local policies. The training was attended by 25 representatives of civil society organizations and individual activists from the Polog region – Tetovo, Gostivar, Vrapciste, Mavrovo, Rostuše, Bogovinje, Brvenica, Zelino, Jegunovce and Tearce
The content of the training was delivered through a methodology that provided a high degree of interaction and active involvement of participants, on the subjects of public advocacy (reviewing the concepts of information, education and communication, public relations, community mobilization, advocacy, mobilization and empowerment, communication channels – strategic communication, message delivered in a minute, building support – networks and coalitions). The participants also worked on developing ideas for advocacy of gender equality in local policies, based on the data provided in the Research “Condition equality in decision making and promotion of gender equality in the Polog region”.
