Katerina Selamovska from Akcija Zdruzenska was selected from over 5,000 applicants to participate in the prestigious Summer School “Women, Peace and Security 2025,” held from 22 to 26 September in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The program, organized by the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies, with support from the United Nations, aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of young professionals and students from the region in the areas of gender equality, security, peacebuilding, and the transformation of post-conflict societies.
The Summer School is based on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (UN Security Council Resolution 1325) and the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda (Resolution 2250), covering topics such as gender-based violence, inclusive peace processes, youth participation, and security sector reform.
“I was honored to be selected and to be part of this initiative, which brings together young leaders and experts from across the region. For me, it was an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and deepen my commitment to promoting equality, justice, and peace,” Selamovska said.
The program is supported by the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania as part of the #WomenLeadBiH initiative implemented by UN Women BiH, IOM BiH, and UNFPA BiH, in partnership with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, with support from the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), and as part of the regional #Y4IET program led by UNDP Serbia, in cooperation with UN Women Albania.
