Recently, in the premises of the Municipality of Kumanovo, the priority problems and needs identified by women from eight rural and suburban communities – Pero Čičo, Karpoš, Tromeđa, Tabanovce, Romanovce, Pčinje, Igo Tričković, and Biljanovce – were presented.
Through the work of women’s circles, the women identified the most urgent challenges they face in their communities on a daily basis. Key issues highlighted included non-functional sewage and water supply systems, unpaved streets and lack of sidewalks, unsafe public transport, neglected public and recreational spaces, as well as matters directly affecting the safety and health of women, children, and households.
At the meeting, specific demands were addressed to the local government, including the establishment of functional mechanisms for active women’s participation in local policymaking, improvement of basic infrastructure (sewage, water supply, and paving), construction of safe walkways and sidewalks, provision of stable and adequate public transport, maintenance and improvement of public and recreational spaces, regular communication, and increased transparency in the work of municipal services.
The participants emphasized that the systematic inclusion of women in decision-making processes is crucial for creating better, fairer, and more sustainable local policies that respond to the real needs of the communities.
