Effective Response for Gender Equality in the Local Self-Government in Macedonia    

Project Duration: 01/01/2010 – 31/03/2011 Sources of funding: The Balkan Trust for Democracy and Foundation Open Society Macedonia

Objective: To increase the level of information and understanding of the key actors within the local government on the nature, purpose and the responsibilities derived from the Law on equal opportunities for women and men; To strengthen local women’s groups capacities for monitoring the practical implementation of the Law on Equal Opportunities of Women and Men; To develop a tool for continuous assessment of the progress towards the enforcement of the Law on Equal Opportunities of Women and Men

Results: Strengthened knowledge and skills to perform a watch-dog role of the 11 NGOs based in 5 municipalities Prepared and promoted 7 monitoring reports on implementation of the Law for equal opportunities of women and man in 7 municipalities (Bitola, Debar, Kumanovo, Sveti Nikole, Lipkovo, Staro Nagoricane, Tetovo).
