A working meeting was recently held in the Municipality of Kumanovo between activists from local communities and representatives of institutions, where key issues directly affecting the quality of life of citizens were discussed.
Representatives of the local self-government units, municipal council groups, the Acting Director of the Public Utility Company “Vodovod,” and a representative from the Water Management Company “Vodostopanstvo” attended the meeting. The discussions were based on data collected through field activities in the villages of Pchinja and Romanovce, where residents highlighted a number of serious challenges. Among the key issues raised were limited access to clean water, concerns related to air quality, and the underdevelopment of public transport services. In addition, the issue of maintaining roadside infrastructure in the village of Romanovce was addressed, where the accumulation of stormwater creates difficulties for the local population. In this regard, the need for regular and systematic institutional maintenance was emphasized. Participants stressed that these are fundamental conditions for a dignified life, rather than isolated incidents. Through direct dialogue with the institutions, specific demands were put forward, with expectations for long-term and sustainable solutions.
The activity is part of the project “Women Taking the Lead in Local Communities,” funded by the European Union and co-funded by Sweden, and implemented by the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation in partnership with “Akcija Zdruzenska” and the humanitarian organization “Majka” from Kumanovo.
