The Association of Citizens Akcija Zdruzenska on 25 January
2011 in Hotel Holiday Inn, Skopje organized a conference “Implementation of the
Law on Equal Opportunities of Women and Men within the local self government of
the Republic of Macedonia”.
On the conference were presented the results of the conducted
monitoring of the work of the local government actors in 7 municipalities
regarding implementation of the specific responsibilities derived in the Law on
Equal Opportunities of Women and Men.
This conference is organized as final activity within the
project “Response for Gender Equality in the Local Self-Government in
Macedonia” implemented by Akcija Zdruzenska in partnership with 11 local
NGOs active in promotion of gender equality and women’s rights.
Towards establishing conditions for more effective
implementation of the Law on Equal Opportunities of Women and Men on local level
trough strengthening the monitoring role of the women activism, the project
activities were focused on supporting the local women organizations in
developing frame and practice on continuous monitoring and assessment of the
performance of local government regarding gender equality.
This activity is carried out within the Annual Program of
Akcija Zdruzhenska, financially supported by CIVICA Mobilitas , FOOSIM-Macedonia
and Balkan Trust for Democracy.
