Active women from the Strumica region are calling for equal participation in decision-making

Activists from women’s circles in the region carried out an initiative aimed at encouraging more inclusive municipalities, where the needs and priorities of women are equally recognized and valued. Through this action, they sent a clear message for improving the status, position, and role of women in the community.

The goal of the initiative is to increase women’s participation in local-level planning and decision-making processes, as well as to encourage broader public debate on gender equality within municipalities. As part of the activity, a symbolic installation was set up, calling for alliance, equal participation, and joint decision-making—values considered fundamental to democratic and sustainable local communities.

The organizers emphasized that only through joint efforts can municipalities be built where women’s voices are heard, respected, and actively included in the creation of public policies. The activity was implemented with the support of The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, Akcija Zdruzhenska, and HZ Majka, with financial support from the European Union and co-financing from Sweden.
